Historic Timeline:

1894 - The Gibsonville Church began as a mission of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro, N. C. in 1894.
1895 - Rev. J. L. Lane began work in January 1895 meeting in the Methodist Protestant Church and later the Masonic Hall.

1896 - The fifth Sunday in May 1896, the Gibsonville Church was organized with seven charter members (list above) . Rev. J. L. Lane was elected as the first pastor.

1896 - The church lot was donated by Mr. John Boone. The church building was started in 1896 (30 x 40 feet).

1900 - The bell tower completed in June 1900.

1902 - The Church was lit by oil lamps on the walls and later used gas lights until electricity was installed years later. In 1902 the deed for the church was secured from the First Baptist Church of Greensboro. Two dressing rooms and the Baptistery was added in 1902.

1911-1918 - The two side wings were added between 1911 and 1918.

1924-1929 - Two classrooms were added to the back and two rooms to the front of the church.

1947 - A lot was purchased and parsonage built on corner of Springwood and Cedar Street.

1965 - The parsonage was expanded in 1965 and used until it was sold in 2001.

1951 - In January 1951 the church voted to enlarge and renovate the sanctuary which was expanded approximately 20 feet and 15 small classrooms added to the back of the church which was completed in October 1951. Also, in 1951 the name of the church was changed to First Baptist Church.

1953 - The W.C. White property adjacent to the church on Lewis Street was purchased in April 1953.

1956 - The A. L. Thompson property was purchased for additional classroom space.
1963 - In February 1963 work began on a new educational building, including kitchen and fellowship hall.
1967 - In June 1967 the Numa Wood property on the south side of the church was purchased.

1971 - Schulmerich Carillons church bells were installed and the Olga Allen property was purchased.

1973 - The Educational Building was air conditioned.

1974 - The Sanctuary was redone and two classrooms, Pastors study, Secretaries office were added and a new baptismal pool installed.

1985 - The R. R. Rumbley property on Lewis Street was purchased.

1986 - July 12, 1986, the Wyrick-Dawson property on Piedmont Avenue was purchased.

1989 - March 1989, the Hursey property next to Wyrick-Dawson property was purchased.

1995 - The Thomason property on the back right of the church was purchased.

2001 - The parsonage was sold.

2004 - The Dixon house and lot on Lewis Street was purchased.

2009 - A commercial grade playground was built.

2011 - A 15 passenger van was purchased.

2014 - New stained glass windows were installed in the sanctuary.
