Location: Louisiana and Texas
Surnames/tags: Foster Carter
Hi. Trying to suss out a mystery if anyone can help maybe with some evidence or even family lore about these folks.
3rd G Grandfather Joel Foster married Nancy Carter 1853 Bienville Parish. (Bienville records)
Joel disappears never to be seen again as far as I can tell. Nancy (mistranscribed Foster as Laster) and 6 kids found again 1870 Bienville Parish census minus Husband/Father Joel and my GG Grandfather Ed b Jan 1869. Next found kids in Limestone county TX 1880 census including Ed. Nancy (birth place FL) living next door had apparently remarried William Adams.
GG Grandfather Robert Edward Foster 1923 death cert. Joe L Foster (AL) and Nancy Agnes Carter (FL) listed as his parents, attested by his brother George Madison Foster.
Additionally, some genealogies refer to Joel Kuykendall Foster as my Ed's father. Some of the evidence seems circumstantially similar, though JK Foster is never associated with my 3rd G Grandmother Nancy Carter.
Does anyone know anything about these people? Where is GG grandfather, 18 month old, Ed in 1870? Why is Joel never associated with his family again except on GG grandfather Ed's death certificate?
