Ray Fowke

Many Fowke family lines of genealogy and history can be traced quite accurately from many countries, present day, back to 1403 in Staffordshire, England. But not all ! After 30 years of research I am still locating families for whom 'connections' are still to be accurately established. Surname spelling often changed over the centuries especially when individuals left Britain for America and Canada and India and Ceylon during the 16th to 18th Centuries. It's a fascinating study.

Some of the most interesting stories involve those Fowke individuals who were involved in the early days of British Army and Navy activities, The East India Company, Tea plantations in Ceylon, American Independence, and service in the employ of many Kings and Queens of England. All fascinating stuff which can be added to, and enjoyed by many, in the fullness of time.

Welcome to my One Name Study. Two additional Surname tags have been entered, however there are several more. Eg: Fowlkes, Fouke, Foukes, Fookes, Fooks. Be aware that not all spelling variations will be automatically connected. Research is absolutely necessary to confirm which specific family lines. Fowke families from United Kingdom, Ceylon, India, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and USA will most certainly be able to be identified promptly as being part of this Worldwide Tree.
