Rusty Scott
John was born (according to him) in 1812 in Duddingston, Edinburgh; possibly named Fram (Frame). Earliest family tied record is his marriage in 1839 to Anne Shields (Fenwick and Newton upon Ayr parishes). At the time he was going by John Ferguson. Around 1853 the family moved to Kilmarnock and encountered some trouble with the law. John left town. Anne filed for Poor Relief. By the 1861 census, the family is back together, living in Glasgow, all going by the last name Scott; with Ferguson as a middle name in many cases. Y-DNA testing of a direct male descendent has confirmed a possible Frame surname tie-in. Now trying to identify where in the Frame family this connection could take place. The earliest common ancestor to the DNA matches indicates James Frame (~1712) and Janet Brownlie in Dalserf Parish.
