This page contains some of the information that Pierre Smit gathered over the course of pursuing his hobby of researching his family roots. He started with it while living in Malawi and stopped shortly before his death in 1984. Riël Smit inherited his files. All of his research was via writing letters, and visiting people and archives. While he had been meticulous in his work, unfortunately he did not always record the source of his information and some of the correspondence has been lost.
