History

The Frontier Nursing Service was founded in 1925 by Mary Carson Breckinridge (abt.1881-1965) and provides healthcare services to rural, underserved populations and educates nurse-midwives.

Frontier Nursing University

The Frontier Graduate School of Midwifery was started in 1939 by the Frontier Nursing Service (FNS) as a part of its demonstration project in the care of the mother and child in rural areas of Kentucky.
