- Village of Berlin park on homesite of Wilfred Credit who married Ona Knous, the grand daughter of Charles Wesley Knouse, the father of Alice by his second wife, Melissa Isabelle Yates. Ona's parents were Joseph Lewis (half-brother of Alice by his first wife, Mary Johnson) and Artilda Gokee KNOUSE.
Alice was born 23 Jun 1885 in Sangamon, Illinois, United States. She passed away at 2 years and 10 months. on 23 Apr 1887. Tree swing represents the modern swings that are in the park built on where the Credit family's ancestral home was located. The tree still stands where the swing hung that my husband used as a youth while visiting his grandfather in Sangamon County. During 1880 the Credit home was in Old Berlin and the Knouse home was in Island Grove which were only a few miles apart it is likely that the two families may have known of each other. It is not known if the families ever interacted.
