Finding Information In This Source

This source has thousands of names which makes it somewhat difficult to navigate. For example, the name William Bentley appears 377 times. Having a bit of understand about the codes can make finding a name much easier. Each member of the Bentley family is given a code based upon their relationship to the progenitor of the Rhode Island Bentley families, William Bentley. William's code is Be:F. Each of his children are then assigned a capital letter if male and a lowercase letter if female. Thus his five children, and some of their children are coded as follows:
