Editions
The revision history "self-published Jan 1998; earlier revisions Jan 1992, Aug 1984" comes from the Linen Hall catalog. On WikiTree we have used "VLH" to refer to the Linen Hall edition, which is typed. We use "V1" to refer to an earlier handwritten edition in circulation (not sure if that is 1992 or 1984)

Errata
Given the monumental task that Bertie has accepted it is inevitable that some errors will have crept in . This research was done by visiting homes in the area and speaking to relatives; and it is clear that in many cases, original parish registers were looked up to obtain birth details.
At this time the civil registration was not available online; and study of the civil registration entries do reveal that Bertie's research contains many instances of conflating people (mixing up two people of the same name), as well as incorrect birth years.
I hope that combining Bertie's work with primary sources and documenting the result on WikiTree will lead us as close as possible to the true story.
I would strongly urge anyone editing WikiTree profiles based on this book to reference this Source space; and to mark all data as uncertain if not also backed by primary sources. -- McNabb-412
- P14: William James Crooks (b. 22/9/1912) is given birth date 22/9/1913.
- P16: There are several mistakes in the Bell ancestors on this page:
- James Bell (bef.1805-) is conflated with one of the Robert Bell of Dunmore. Possibly Robert Bell and James Bell were brothers but I have not found evidence to confirm that.
- James's son George has incorrect wife listed.
- Thomas James Bell (abt.1841-1912) (son of John; m. Jane Crooks) and Thomas James Bell (1868-1935) (son of George; m. Nancy Walls/Mitchell) are conflated.
- Martha Bell (1876-) is conflated with Margaret (Bell) Espie (1880-).
- Robert Bell (1842-1900) of Drumgrass (m. Mary Jane Jordan) is not the son of James Bell of Dunmore; nor does he have a son George Graham Bell. George Graham Bell (abt.1865-1935) is the grandson of James Bell of Dunmore but his father was called Thomas John Bell.
- P59: David Mitchell's wife was Ellen/Eleanor Hartley, not Eliza Hartley.
- P126: Annie Cahoon is described as "nee Rankin"; however Cahoon was her maiden name and Rankin the name of her first husband who died. She remarried as widow Annie Rankin.
- P165: surname Puttick is misspelt.
