I do not agree with renaming Prussia, Emigrants to Kingdom of Prussia, Emigrants.

At the moment there is no dividing line between the Kingdom and Free State of Prussia. My preference is to keep the number of categories as low as possible.

But why are we then adding "Grand Duchy of", "Kingdom of" etc. to more or less each territory when creating migration categories (apart from Prussia, Württemberg and Mecklenburg-*)?

Prussia is obviously a historic entity and the name is not easily confused with a present day state.

Using Saxony and Bavaria as examples, I think it helpful to add "Kingdom of ...." to identify the historic entity. "Kingdom of Hanover" is useful to distinguish from the city of Hanover.

My preference is to minimise the number of categories. I prefer the null hypothesis that there is no difference - and no need for subdivision of a category. The alternate hypothesis is to show that the differences are significant and justify the subdivision.
