About Our Teams

The Profile Improvement Teams currently consist of five separate sub-teams. The teams below are dedicated to improving profiles on behalf of the Germany Project. If you would like to join any of these sub-teams, please post a comment below or contact project leader Traci Thiessen or project coordinator Terri Swift.

Members must have at least 500 contributions OR be a member of a corresponding WikiTree Project before joining any of the Germany PIT teams.

Managed Profiles Team

This dedicated team focuses on improving the biographies of WikiTree's most viewed (5-star) German profiles, notable Germans and other profiles that are managed by the Project, following the Project's Profile Improvement Checklist. The result is attractive, useful, and well-written biographies. It is strongly advised that members of this team also join WikiTree's Profile Improvement Project and complete their PIP Voyage before joining. Past participation in Biography Builders challenges is a plus.
Team members and further instruction can be found on the Managed Profiles Team Page.

Connectors focus on connecting all the loose German branches and profiles around WikiTree to our main Global Family Tree. For more information on making connections, see Help:Unconnected. Any Germany Project member with 500+ contributions can join this Team.
See more information on the Connectors Team Page.

Sourcerers add reliable sources to unsourced German profiles. For more information on adding sources to German profiles, see: Help:Sources. Any Germany Project member with 500+ contributions can join this Team.
See more information on sourcing German profiles on the Sourcerers Team Page.

Data Doctors

Data Doctors correct database errors on German Profiles. For more information on clearing database errors, see: WikiTree's Data Doctors Project. Any Germany Project member with 500+ contributions can join this Team.
See more information on fixing DBEs on German profiles on the Data Doctors Team Page.

Arborists merge profiles. For more information on merging profiles, see Help:Merging. Only Germany Project members with an Arborist badge can join this Team.
See more information on merging German profiles on the Arborists Team Page.

WikiTree Challenges Team

We have a team that participates in WikiTree Big Annual Events, (i.e.: Spring Clean-a-Thon, Connect-a-Thon, Source-a-Thon): the Germany Genies.

This is an active Germany Project page with up-to-date information.

I've been taking part in the sourcerer's challenge for a few months now, while I beef up my profiles. I'd be happy to help adding sources to unsourced profiles or even formatting them to wikitree standards. Do we have a list of profiles that need work?
Thanks for volunteering Marcia!! I've added you to our Sourcerers Team. You can see the list HERE ... there are over 22,000 unsourced German profiles, but you can edit the search parameters on WikiTree+ to certain dates, places, names, etc. We appreciate your joining us!!!!

My pleasure, Traci! I'm bookmarking your list. 22,000 is a lot! But let's see if we can make a little dent on that!
Where would formatting go for cleaning up profiles and/or beautifying them? Would that make me an Arborist?

The focus of the Managed Profiles Team is on cleaning-up/expanding/improving the biographies of project-managed profiles. There are just too many German profiles to track all profies that need cleaning up/beautifying. We DO appreciate any work you do on German profiles though!! If there's a profile of a person of significance in German history that you feel should be managed by the project, just let me know and I'll add them to the Managed Profiles list. See this page for info on what profiles should be project-managed:

Germany Project doesn't have an Arborists team ... if we did they would be focused on completing merges (like the WikiTree Arborists Project:

Oh right. Arborists remove the duplicate leaves. I guess that makes me more of a Nutrient Provider or Reinforcer. I'm a Categorist at heart.

I would say that is profile improvement in general but bio builders would be that. We do not have a bio builders team I do not think. I will ask Traci about that.

The Managed Profiles Team = Bio Builders

This is why you run this side of things! It's great seeing so many Germany profiles becoming more accurate with merges etc. Awesome work!
