Overview

Girardville is home of the Hibernian House which was owned by one of the most famous coal miners that ever lived. John/Jack/Black Jack Kehoe was the original owner of the Hibernian House bar,which is still in the family,he was accused,hanged and then pardoned for crimes that were blamed on the Molly Maquires between 1865 and 1878,he was hanged in1878 and pardoned by Milton Shapp the then governor of Pennsylvania in 1979.
