Goals
This is a One Name Study to collect together in one place everything about the surname Gladman and its variants. The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect.
Task List
Determine whether the three Gladman lines on Wikitree share any common ancestors
Seven Wikitree genealogists are following the Gladman name. One is a closed account (Evan-9891). The other six represent three apparently distinct lines, two in Australia and one in Canada. See below.
Gladman Line A:
In Australia.
Includes Darren Gladman (Gladman-129) and his father Stan Gladman (Gladman-152).
First immigrant to Australia was Edward William Gladman (Gladman-162). His death & marriage records are in Victorian BDM, but no official immigration or birth record has yet been found. Source for his birth date and parents’ names is dubious (ancestry.com public member tree). It lists his birth location as Waterford, Ireland but Waterford, England seems more plausible.
Gladman Line B:
In Australia.
Daryl Murphy (Murphy-4751), Aaron Batty (Batty-349) and Kristena Gladman (Gladman-97) are distant cousins. Their common ancestor is William Gladman (Gladman-31) who was born in London in 1802 and was the Gladman of that line who emigrated to Australia.
Gladman line C:
In Canada.
Terrie Gladman (Gladman-157)’s grandfather Thomas Mark Gladman and her great grandfather Thomas William Gladman (Gladman-114) both were born in England and died in Canada.
