History

The Gordon Homestead Plantation belonged to Robert Campbell Gordon and was located in Abbeville County, South Carolina. It is unknown what the family name for this plantation was. In his will and probate paperwork it is only described as his Homestead plantation.

Robert's probate paperwork in 1852 states that the Home tract was 1731 acres, the Kirkpatrick tract was 250 acres, and the Bowie tract was 113 acres.[1]

A Plat Survey of the Gordon Homestead Plantation, 839 acres, was included in Robert Gordon's probate paperwork.[2]

Slaves

Robert C. Gordon held about 81 slaves at the time of his death in 1852.[3] There was an undated petition to sell some of the slaves. Those slaves have not been identified.[4]
