About the Project

The Griffin Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Griffin name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Griffin name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual team studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Griffins), by time period (18th Century Griffins), or by topic (Griffin DNA, Griffin Occupations, Griffin Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

HI, somehow my name is listed above under "membership". I don't know anything about "membership" for this group - but I am an active member for posting Griffin information. Could you please remove me to avoid confusion.

I am a Griffin and have the dna male and female for my line. My brother a direct Griffin from a line in South Carolina, originated from Wales, we think, but there are no matches dna wise to Wales at this time. Our Y dna line is GZ 6748, and female line is T2b2b. Ike Griffin who has a tree here and I have separated our lines as Y is different. Will be happy to work with y’all on this line! Thanks Linda Griffin Halbrooks

Hi, I have a "Griffing" [[1]] and was wondering if I could add the profile to your name Study? It seems like it's a variant.

Hi Michael,

I started a Griffin name study not knowing that you already had one. I have quite a group listed, I would like to join your Griffin page and merge my page with yours. I am new at this part of wikitree and can use any help you can give.

Thanks and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Michael - I ended up creating another Griffin one name file (one of my four main family branches) as your Griffin surname was not appearing on the one name list - so I thought it was unused. I see it is showing up now. Can you please add me to your trusted list so I can merge mine into yours? Thank you.
