History
Gulgong Cemetery is a monumental cemetery dating from the 1870s. It includes a columbarium wall containing ashes from the 1970s and a lawn cemetery was established in 2008. The cemetery is divided into denominational portions and the sections and rows are, for the most part, clearly marked. However, in both the Anglican and Roman Catholic portions, there are old sections containing scattered monuments where the unmarked rows wander somewhat and are difficult to determine accurately.
A signboard at the main entrance shows a plan of the cemetery. The grounds are well fenced and maintained and there is ample parking space. Some seats are provided, town water is connected and a modern toilet block with wheelchair access has been erected.
