Information: The Gweru Cemetery is a local council maintained place of rest north west of Gweru city center (proceed westerly direction out of the city along Main Street). The Cemetery is poorly maintained and generally neglected, requiring much attention. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission maintain some 87 war graves, in extremely good condition, within the Gweru Cemetery - see Gweru Commission Plot. The Gweru Cremation Memorial, commemorates a single Second World War casualty from the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. The nearby Thornhill Air Base was prominent in training British Empire pilots during World War II.
