Surnames/tags: H5h mtDNA
The goal of this project is to trace the matrilineal ancestors of those who have done a full sequence mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) test and show that their matrilineal line is in the H5h Haplogroup.
The Goals of the Project
- The primary goal is to solve mysteries where the paper trails are missing, or incomplete.
- Create deceased ancestor profiles and build out an accurately sourced family tree as far as possible in WikiTree for mtDNA matches
- Connect these ancestor profiles with each other when possible.
- Identify the MRCA for mtDNA participants in the H5h Haplogroup
Based on the traced matrilineal ancestors for H5h matches, the earliest known ancestors in H5h Haplogroup appear to have resided in colonial New England in the later 17th century (1600s). The MRCA for the American colonies is believed to be either British or Dutch.
Right now this project just has one member, me. I am Jana Shea.
