Summary
Of the almost 350 people arrested for machine breaking and rioting at Hampshire, 100 people were initially sentenced to Death. Most of them had their death sentences commuted although two men were executed in January 1831. Henry COOK (aged 19) and James Thomas COOPER aged 33. of the other 98 men sentenced to death: 42 people transported for Life 23 transported for 7 years 17 transported for 14 years. The other 18 men had prison sentences imposed (usually with hard labour).
