There are genealogical records that place the earliest ancestor of BY141776 and BY96810 living and participating in the same battles during the American Revolution. The family naming patterns and ages of these men suggest a close kinship. Do their Big yDNA results support any theory as to what the kinship might be?

The individual in your line who was BY50703 clearly preceded haplogroups BY96810 and BY141776 (these are both "subclades" of BY50703). Yet, your line would benefit from upgrading the cluster of kits to Big Y-700 to put a more accurate estimate on when all these haplogroups emerged and how long they ran until more subclades emerged.

It's interesting to consider BY50703 alongside other haplogroups under BY3368. FGC15791, for example, likely emerged sometime in the 1300s. So far, we've tested eighteen under FGC15791, and it's helping us considerably in estimating the ages of subclades.

An upgrade to y700 was ordered today for #148924. Hopefully more will upgrade before the sale ends on the 31st.

In all likelihood, BY50703 is over 600 years old, and BY96810 and BY141776 may have branched from BY50703 sometime in the 1500s or 1600s.

I noticed that kit #130051 has one private variant remaining. If another, closely related to 130051 upgraded to Big Y-700, you might find that kit 130051 is a subclade of BY96810, possibly emerging in the 1700s or 1800s.

Robert, I just wanted to make sure there was nothing else I need to do concerning the "private Variant" mentioned above. I attempted to upgrade kit #130051 to y700 in Aug 2019 from a sample that was acquired in 2014. I was notified at the end of May 2020 that the sample had failed twice, and I was not able to send another sample since the tester was then deceased.
