History
Hardy County was named for Samuel Hardy, a Virginia state legislature, lieutenant governor, and delegate to the Continental Congress. The first settlements were established in the 1730s composed mostly of Scotch-Irish, German, English, and Dutch immigrants. [1]

Geography
Hardy County is located in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Divided by South Branch Mountain with four rivers penetrate its boundaries. Hardy is has a deep fertile valley and high mountains with rough terrain.[1]
