Revolutionary War Veterans and Patriots Associated with Harrison County, Kentucky
Revolutionary War records can offer invaluable assistance to genealogical research on early residents of Harrison County, Kentucky. After his extensive research, Anderson Chenault Quisenberry wrote that he believed, "nearly all the original adult male settlers of the State [of Kentucky] had seen service in the Revolutionary War" (p. 55). Connecting these men with family members, friends and neighbors often provides clues that enable family historians to carry their research another step back into the colonial era.
Harrison County DAR Plaque |
Undoubtedly, the early settlement and development of Harrison County was heavily influenced by these men. The Harrison County, Kentucky One Place Study is currently working to expand research into these individuals, as well as create and connect their profiles on WikiTree. This page represents preliminary work on compiling several sources to facilitate profile research and creation.
- * The first table below primarily includes individuals with traditional military participation: men who served and later migrated to or through the Harrison County area.
- * The second table lists persons involved in patriotic service: little research has been done on these individuals as yet.
- * The third table consists of several DAR/SAR ancestors who have unclear connections or service records. Some may be veterans who did not apply for pensions. Some appear to have been Ruddle's Station residents and qualify as patriots for those organizations due to their frontier fort residence and capture. These will probably be moved to a dedicated page as research progresses. Pages for Hinkson's and Martin's Stations are also in the planning stages.
WikiLinks have been added to profiles found to date, but lack of WikiLink does not necessarily mean no profile is already present on WikiTree: individuals should be checked thoroughly before creating profiles. Pension applications on NARA are linked when found. Bounty Land records have not yet been researched or added to the list.

- Society Search Pages: Plugging in the number from these columns on the appropriate search page will access the individual profiles on those sites. Reminder: links to these sites do not constitute proper sources, but may provide hints on family members or suggestions for other sources of information. Independent research on family members is required.
