Description
This project is open to anyone worldwide, with the goal of defining and/or connecting the Hatcher families. We welcome all Hatcher descendants to join the project.
This project is coordinated with the Hatcher Family Genealogy Association, which has its own web site and genealogical database at https://HatcherFamilyAssn.com. On that site, you can find more details about the individuals and their families.
Lineages
(This is just a start. Several different families exist, with different Y-DNA patriarchs.)
- The Hatchers of Henrico County, Virginia with patriarch William Hatcher (1613-1680): Hatcher-46. This is the largest Hatcher family by far, with tens of thousands of descendants, and perhaps fifty sets of Y-DNA test results

- Nancy Hatcher (1750-1820) Hatcher-421 was a descendant of William, above, and gave all her children her maiden name. She appears to have been married to James Milam, and he the father of her children.

- John Hatcher (1767-1856) Hatcher-1100 appears to have been the son of a Chaney man and Sarah Hay (1737-1792) Hay-908. After the Chaney left the picture (presumably died), she married Jameston Hatcher, Jr. (1738-1818) Hatcher-419, and all her children by her first marriage got the Hatcher name.

- The Quaker / Dorset / Newfoundland Hatchers
