Rev'd Robert HENDERSON: (Presbyterian Minister), b. 1781 in NC. m. Margaret PICKENS (daugh. of Abrem & Elizabeth PICKENS)
Rev'd Robert HENDERSON was born in NC and later moved to Williamsburg District SC where he met Margaret L. PICKENS. In 1806 Robert and Margaret moved to Maury Co., TN with Margaret's parents.
Robert and Margaret were among the heirs to Abrem and Elizabeth PICKENS' estates.
Rev'd. Robert HENDERSON started a Presbyterian Church and School in Maury Co.
I also have a ref. that says he was a Lieutenant in the 27th Regiment of the Tennesse Milita, Aug. 1, 1809. He fought in the War of 1812.
Rev'd. Robert HENDERSON in Sept. of 1812, worked on a road from Samuel SMITH's cotton gin to the Crossing of Flat Creek.
Rev'd Robert HENDERSON is referred to in the book" THE GOODSPEED HISTORIES OF MAURY, WILLIAMSON, RUTHERFORD, WILSON, BEDFORD AND MARSHALL COUNTIES OF TENNESSEE, published 1886, reprinted 1971. Ref. is under Maury Co., Mt. Zion neighborhood. Original settlers from Williamsburg Dist, SC.
Rev'd Robert HENDERSON sold his land in Maury Co. and bought land in Lawrence Co., AL (ca. 1835).
On a 1832 tax list for Maury Co., Rev'd Robert HENDERSON had 93 acres.
There is also a reference to Rev'd Robert HENDERSON in a publication called 'Family Research' compiled by Mildred Roberts 1973. The family record is on p. 88. I have not seen this ref. but was told it exists. I don't know where to find it! In this ref. it made a reference to a Bible record having a James Edgar HENDERSON b. May 16, 1714 with no other info. Could this James Edgar HENDERSON be Rev'd Robert HENDERSON's grandfather? The reason I think this is possible is because Rev. Robert HENDERSON had a grandson named James Edgar HENDERSON b. June 22, 1874.
