Heslington Road Friends Burial Ground is a Quaker burial ground at The Retreat in York. The Retreat was established in 1796 to provide compassionate mental health care, and had its own small burial ground predating 1855 for any patients who died, but in 1855 the main Quaker burial ground in York, in Cromwell Road, Bishopshill, York, had to be closed because of concerns that burials in populated areas would spread disease. As a result, a new Quaker burial ground was established at The Retreat as the main Quaker burial ground for the whole of York. It is still open for burials.
