Introduction
Heyden Hill Plantation, located in Charleston County, South Carolina, was owned by Theodore Gaillard Sr. which he willed to his son Peter Gaillard,[1] and then owned by Peter's son Peter Gaillard.[2] A drawing of Heyden Hill Plantation can be found online.[3]
Peter Gaillard Sr.
Theodore Gaillard's son Peter Gaillard died in 1833. His will was written 13 Dec 1832, proved 5 Feb 1833.[4] His probate inventory has yet to be discovered. Although Peter Gaillard Sr. owned Heyden Hill plantation, he is identified with a plantation called the Rocks Plantation.[5] Son Samuel Gaillard ended up with the Rocks Plantation.

Peter Gaillard Jr.
Peter Gaillard's son Peter Gaillard died 13 Jan 1843 in Charleston, South Carolina. His probate papers list the 225 enslaved in lots, each lot appears to be a family.[6] After the probate inventory the family divided all the property of Peter Gaillard, including the enslaved, to the surviving family members.[7]
