The goal of this project is to ... clear up confusion and find descendents of Levi Hinds who settled in Hindsville, Arkansas

Right now this project just has one member, me. I am Deb Hines.

Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done. I'll be working on them, and could use your help.

  • info on Sallie Griffin and why the name changed to Hines
  • Tennessee roots? North Carolina?
  • more info on Poteau, Oklahoma descendents

Will you join me? Please post a comment here on this page, in G2G using the project tag, or send me a private message. Thanks!

Sallie Griffin Hinds (Hines?) is buried in Pilot Prairie Cemetery in Waldron, Arkansas. I was told it was her bible that has the name change recorded in it, And, funny how the name is spelled with es in the Arkansas land ownership for Hindsville, Arkansas for Levi and John.

I just lost some of my family tree data on Ancestry because I am no longer a paying member. I had left my great grandfather out of the tree, putting him in deleted a whole line back to England! So, any help is appreciated. I am descended from Marion Lloyd Hines, his father Marion Samuel Hines, his father George Washington Hinds II, whom I believe descends from GWH I, then John Hinds, Levi Hinds, Cpt John Henry Hines, and now it gets fuzzy. Joseph Hinds?
