History of Pennsylvania volunteers, 1861-5 prepared in compliance with acts of the legislature
- The Historical Record of the Military Units from Pennsylvania that served in the Civil War. This was ordained by an Act of The Pennsylvania Legislature on 4 May, 1867. It was provided that there should be prepared "a military history of the organization of Pennsylvania volunteers and militia, who have been, or may be in the field"

- Each Volume contains:
- A Detailed Account of that Regiment's Organization and Services in the Field
- Final Muster Rolls by Company including:
- Name
- Age
- Residence
- Date and Term of Enlistment
- Promotions, Discharges and Casualties
- Places of Burial
- Alphabetical Index for Field Officers
- Note: There is also an Alphabetical Index for Field Officers and Burial Records at the end of each volume which may not be noted in the Table Of Contents of that volume. The Burial Records are not specific to the Regiments in each volume and may contain records for for the burial of a soldier from a Regiment detailed in a previous volume as the record became known as each volume was printed.
