Hello. I've traced my roots all the way back to the late 1600s in Market Lavington, Wiltshire, England. Peter Hobbs (1683-bef.1738) is my 6th great-grandfather, who had three sons to continue on the Hobbs name. I'd like to see where this goes too.

Hi, I'm looking for information of my paternal grandmother (name at birth) EDITH ELIZABETH HOBBS - DOB 13/11/1879 - Born in Sandgate Kent England and last known address was in Leicester. In my late fathers possesions is a copy of a birth certificate relating to ANNIE JOSEPHINE LOUISE HANKS therefore, I believe she had been married before, also, my paternal grandfather's Record of Service paper states Edith as his "unofficial" wife with the surname HESKETT and a daughter by the name of RHODA ROSINA HESKETT......ALL AT THE SAME ADDRESS IN LEICESTER!

Unfortunately I'm at a stumbling block and would appreciate any help at all from you. Thank you so much for taking time out to read!

Hi Kerrie, My maiden name is Hobbs. My gggrandfather Benjamin Hobbs (b. 1809) is the furthest back I have been able to get with my Hobbs line. His birthplace is listed as England, and that's a big place! FTDNA analysis of my brother's yDNA places Benjamin as descending from family in Somerset, England, and related to those from Connecticut USA, but not as a Hobbs. He matches up mostly with the Holley/Holly family! A couple of other Hobbs families are in the same boat. So I am at a standstill, and not sure where to go now. I am hoping that another Hobbs family researcher might have some answers. Thanks for this opportunity by managing the Hobbs Project. [email address removed]

Hello, Kerrie! Thank you for creating this page. I hope more people will join the project. I have my Dad's dna in the FTDNA Hobbs Surname project. What do I need to do here? I've only been doing genealogy for a couple years now. Still much to learn! I'm confused as my line to Vincent is Abner but he's not on the tree here.
