About the Project
The Hollenkamp Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Hollenkamp name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Hollenkamp name.
As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (e.g Dutch Hollenkamp's, US Hollenkamp's), by time period (18th Century Hollenkamp's), or by topic (Hollenkamp DNA, Hollenkamp Y-DNA, Hollenkamp Occupations, Hollenkamp Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

How can you contribute in 2023?
The Hollenkamp name study project has been running on Wikitree since August 2022. By December 2022, we had been able to create more than 450 profiles and identified a lot of lineages and their branching points. The vast majority of profiles, however, are still very basic in the sense that they only contain information on dates and places of births, marriages and deaths.
We are therefore calling on YOUR expert knowledge to help paint a more lively picture of the "Hollenkamp clan", and are looking for a broader and more diverse set of family researchers, genealogists and historians to help us out in 2023.
Bearers of the Hollenkamp/ Hollencamp name and their relatives
If you are Hollenkamp / Hollencamp yourself, or a relative of a Hollenkamp / Hollencamp, then please feel encouraged and contribute your
- family photos or documents
- familystories and memories
- other Hollenkamp "paraphernalia", e.g. beer bottles, clothes hangers, business envelopes, etc.
Any tidbit, no matter how small it may seem to you, will be an extremely valuable piece of information for this study, and help to create more vivid and lively profiles. We want to know what it means to be Hollenkamp, what it means to be Hollencamp, and where the differences might be ;)
Genealogy beginners, intermediates and pros with a special interest
The WikiTree community holds expertise in so many different areas, and the study has already seen great benefits from this community in so many ways. It is like standing on the shoulders of giants. Therefore, we thought we should advertise a broader set of entry points into the Hollenkamp name study to lower the entry barrier for local, regional, military, occupational or migration experts. Location experts If you are an expert for a particular location, please check the Hollenkamps in your area - we have associated them based on birth, marriage or death location to the following categories:

If you are familiar with the area, check out the profiles - maybe you can add godparents, neighbours, witnesses, best men, pastors? Or maybe information from local archives like local newspaper, probates, land records or other local history information to the profiles?
Military experts If you are a military or a war expert, you might find that Hollenkamps / Hollencamps served in conflicts that are of interest to you, or maybe they even fought in the same regiment like your ancestor did? Definitely, you might have some information to share that makes reading Hollenkamp profiles more interesting.
