EMIGRATION

The Government emigrant vessel Hotspur, 1670 tons, Captain B, Stacey, belonging to Mr. George Seymour, of London, sailed from Plymouth on the 3rd December for Sydney, New South Wales, with 33 married couples, 174 single men, 134 single women, 39 boys between the ages of 1 and 12, 25 girls between the same ages, 1 male and 4 female infants; making a total of 443 souls, equal to 406 statute adults, under charge of surgeon superintendent D. B. North, assisted by the services of Ellen Lee, matron, and Simon Cullen, schoolmaster

SHIPS' MAILS.

The Hotspur, Captain Stacy, from Plymouth, arrived yester-day, after an excellent passage of 82 days. She has been placed in quarantine ; ten deaths (four adults and six children) having occurred during the passage from measles. She brings 432 im-migrants, classified as follows : 38 married couples, 174 single men, 120 single women, and 58 children. No vessels have been spoken. The Hotspur is one of the finest vessels that have arrived in this port for some months, and is consigned to Messrs. George A. Lloyd and Co.
