How To - Add a link to Wikipedia and Wikidata
Here are step-by-step instructions for adding links between Wikipedia/Wikidata and a profile on WikiTree. This is for those who want to directly edit Wikidata. This is optional. You can create a link between WikiTree and Wikidata simply by adding a link from WikiTree. See Help:Wikidata.
If an article already exists on Wikipedia:

1. Get the Wikipedia ID. This is similar to WikiTree in that it comes after the /wiki/ in the URL.

2. Get the Wikidata ID.

- 1. On the profile page, on the left-hand side, under Tools, select Wikidata Item

- 2. At the top of the page is the Wikidata ID in parenthesis next to the subjects name (Q####)

3. Enter the WikiTree Person ID statement into the subjects Wikidata.

- 1. Scroll to the bottom of the list of statements

- 2. Click Add Statement
- 3. Start typing WikiTree, select it from the list

- 4. Enter their WikiTree ID into the available field, LastName-###

- 5. Click Publish

4. Click on the newly entered WikiTree ID to verify that it goes to the proper profile.

- 1. Once back at WikiTree and the subject's profile, click the Edit tab.
- 2. Under the ==Sources== section:
- 1. Add the Wikidata template {{Wikidata|Q####|enwiki}}
- 2. Enter a comment into the Explain your changes field
- 3. Click Save Changes
