History
This small private cemetery contains graves of many of the homesteaders who came to Humboldt County in the 1800s and originally settled on Kneeland Prairie, along with their descendants.
The land where the cemetery now stands was originally part of the homestead belonging to Amos Frame (1832-1895).[1]
A monument near the entrance dated 1978 states:
- Iaqua-Kneeland Cemetery
- This cemetery is dedicated to the pioneers of this area, and their descendants, with love and affection.
- - Luther W. Sibley
- - L. Willard Sibley
I believe these names refer to Luther Willard Sibley Sr. (1874-1959) (buried here), and his son Luther Willard Sibley Jr (1908-1978) (buried elsewhere).
Notable Monuments
The oldest grave in the cemetery is that of Isaac Gift (bef.1821-1881), dating from 1881.[2]
