Introduction: This page covers ships bringing colonists to Maryland, Virginia, the Carolinas (including North Carolina and South Carolina) and Georgia. It is primarily intended to index those ships to their WikiTree category page, if one exists. Passenger information, or a link/links to information, may be found on a ship's category page or a space page (the last number in the set of three given in parentheses after the link in the list below indicates the number of space pages categorized to it; the first is the number of subcategories & the middle is the number of people profiles).
Categorization of Ships: WikiTree collects ship categories under several overarching categories, which can make finding a particular ship difficult. There were also different ships with the same name, and ships may have made more than one voyage and even several in one year. Usually, each voyage of each ship has its own category - and those that delivered passengers to both New England and the southern colonies should be categorized to both appropriate overarching categories (but they might not be).
As shown in the table below, the appropriate overarching categories for the US Southern Colonies Project include Category: Chesapeake Colony Ships for Virginia and Maryland and Category: Southern Colony Ships for the Carolinas and Georgia (which also has a separate category, as does Jamestown).
See below for an alphabetized, combined list of ships categorized to those overarching categories or a subcategory (listed with clickable links to the ship category). Categories created for these ships to be in the Ship Index (Category: Ships by Name), showing launch dates instead of sailing dates, are listed separately below. Ship names and arrival dates found in Virtual Jamestown's searchable database of the 1624/5 Muster are also listed separately, under Jamestown Colony Ships, below (not clickable text).

Jamestown Colony Ships
- Ships arriving in Virginia prior to 1625 should be categorized under Category: Jamestown Colony Ships (and for now, many are also listed under Category: Chesapeake Colony Ships).
- See Index of Jamestown Colony Ships for WikiTree pages about ships that arrived in Virginia before the January 1624/1625 Jamestown Muster. Passenger lists for these ships are largely compiled lists based on information from that muster, not actual passenger lists. The muster tends to list just one ship, so whether or not someone made repeated voyages is lost. Also lost is whether or not a woman made the voyage with the same surname recorded by the muster.
- Jamestown.org has a searchable database of the 1624/25 muster, which can search by ship (for example: Marmaduke).

Carolinas
North Carolina
South Carolina
- See "They Came Through Charleston," by Richard K. MacMaster - here - which has voyages other than the 1767 sailing of the Earl of Donegall.
- There are a variety of dates from different sources for the sailing in late 1767 of the Earl of Donegall, most all have the ship sailing from Belfast, but the dates range from 26 September to 7 October, and arrival in Charleston, South Carolina is in December but anywhere between the 2nd and the 22nd.
- MacMaster's article says she "sailed from Belfast in September 1767 with 266 passengers and reached Charleston on December 10, 1767. Agents for this ship recruited in Ballymoney and Ballymena, Co. Antrim, as well as in Belfast." This website has images of newspaper postings, one of which reports the safe arrival of a passenger aboard the Earl of Donegall after eight weeks at sea (having departed Belfast on 7 October 1767, which puts their arrival about 2 December).
- The WikiTree space page Earl_of_Donegall_Passengers has sailed 2 October and arrived 22 December. It also has links to some of the existing WikiTree profiles for passengers. If you can add more, add the link to that page as well as adding [[Category: Earl of Donegall, sailed 1767]] to the profile.
Georgia
See Province of Georgia, Passenger Ships (22 ship categories under it as of 2 August 2021 - most also under Southern Colony Ships).

Links are to the category page; see the category pages for "live" information and also for additional information (which may be on the category page itself or an attached space page - the last number given by the category link indicates the number of such pages categorized to it; the middle number is how many profiles are attached and the first is how many subcategories there are [or were, as of 1 August 2021]). See also Category: Immigration Records and Passenger Lists, which is described as holding "mainly online searchable indexes of various lists of passengers, immigrants and convicts moving from country to country."
