History
Archibald Calder owned Indian Fields Plantation in Prince William Parish, Charleston County, South Carolina.[1] The only information we have on this plantation is who it belonged to and where it was. Near the end of his life the owner, Archibald Calder was in a state of dementia and Mathew O'Brien was his overseer from Feb 1804 until the death of Archibald Calder in April 1804.[2] This plantation was to be passed on to his daughter, Martha Calder, wife of Dr. William Calder.[1][3] Dr. William Calder was the brother of Henry Calder, whose executors sold the plantation to William Edings.
Owners
Slaves
The slaves of Archibald Calder were named and valued in his probate inventory in 1777.[5]
