Whereas James Bowne of Great Egg Harbour in New Jersey , Son of Samuel and Abigail Bowne late of the City of New York Deceased and Mary Garrigues Daughter of Saumel Garrigues late of the City of Philad'a deceas'd, and Mary his wife, having declared their Intentions of Marriage with each other before Several monthly meetings of the People called Quakers at Philad'a aforesaid, according to the good order used amongst them, and having consent of Parent and Friends concerned their said Proposals were allowed of by the said meeting. Now these are to certify whom it may concern that for the full accomplishing their said Intentions, this twelfth day of the Tenth month in the year of our Lord one thousand seven Hundred & Eighty six. They the said James Bowne and Mary Garrigues appeared in a public Meeting of the said People at Philad'a aforesaid, and the said James Bowne taking the said Mary Garriguesby the hand did in a solemn manner openly declare that he took her the said Mary Garrigues to be his Wife promising through the Lord's assistance, to be unto her a loving & faithful Husband until Death should seperate them; and then in the same Assembly the said Mary Garrigues did in like manner declare that she took him the said James Bowne to be her Husband promising through the Lord's assistance to be unto him a loving and faithful Wife untill Death should seperate them And moreover they the said James Bowne and Mary Garrigues (she according to the Custom of Marriage Assuming the name of her Husband) as a further confirmation thereof did then and there, to these presents set their Hands

And we whose names are here under also subscribed being presents set their Hands, and we whose names are hereunder also subscribed being present at the solemnization of the said Marriage and Subscription have as Witnesses thereunto set our hands the Day and Year above written.
