Executor's Settlement
Five slaves were named in the Executor's Settlement for James Finnie's estate[4]
- Ned: "The same In a/c with George H. Finnie…to this amt you rec'd of other Hrs for Ned with whom I am chd $81.16...In this settlement there is about $174.94 more credited to the Exors than they actually paid out--that amt having been released by the Heirs for a man Ned whom the Heirs set free but was included in the list of sale chd to the Exors which is respectfully reported."
- Doctor: "In a/c with S. S. Finnie on of the Devisees...By Negro Doctor appraised to you by Exors $675.00, to your interest in Ned $15.07."
- Ephraim: "The same in a/c with the Heirs of Almeda Lay...By one Negro Ephraim appraised to you $470."
- Sam: "In a/c with George H. Finnie...By amt Negro Sam appraised to you $275.00"
Emancipations

To have and consider and conduct himself as a free man from this day henceforth. In Testimony whereof I have herunto set my hadn and affixed my seal this 16th day of October 1835. George H. Finnie. Executed in presence of James R. Hughes, F. C. Brady, W. S. Ross."

And the clerk of this court is ordered to certify the freedom of said Joseph and deliver the same to his as a free man."
