There were several men of this one townland all named James Henry!

WikiTree Profiles

    • Dies at Killycurragh. Has will (PRONI Will Calendars).
    • Father: James Henry.
    • Wife: Jane (Weir) Henry (abt.1828-1903)
    • Children (definite): Silas Weir Henry, Rachel Dale, Mary Ann Bell, Martha Jane Tomb, Caroline Gibson, Catherine Wray McKay, Charles Wesley Henry, Isaac Houston Henry, Marion Jones McAdoo.

In Griffith's Valuation (c. 1860)

There were six different James mentioned:

  • "Benbo" (Lot 1 A+B)
  • "Macourt" (Lot 3) -- updated to "McCord"
    • to Thomas Henry(James) in 1884, then Robert J. Henry in 1896, then Silas W. Henry in 1909
  • "King" (Lot 8a)
    • to James Glasgow in 1873.
  • "Grocer" (Lot 19 and 20a)
    • lot 19 to Charles Henry after 1881; James retains 20. Then both to Wm Kilpatrick 1905
  • "Denis" (Lot 41)
    • to Henry Wilkinson before 1864
  • "Montober" - does not hold land here but is the lessor for one lot.

"Charles Henry" who receives the land of James "Grocer" would not be Charles Wesley Henry (1864-) as he is too young. Perhaps it is a child of James Henry (abt.1834-1920) whose wife was a Charles?

James("Benbo") is an executor for John Henry Jr. (abt.1834-1862).

John Henry son of James Henry (abt.1834-1920) is known as "John Henry, McCord" in his mother-in-law's will

In tithe applotment (1826)

  • James Henry (King)
  • James Henry (Dennis)
  • John, Thomas, and Archibald Henry.

Perhaps "King" indicates some connection to King Henry (abt.1815-1899) of the neighbouring townland Montober?

In Derryloran parish register

Source: The Parish Registers of Derryloran parish church. This will only be Church of Ireland families -- most of the above James were other Protestant denominations. But it is possible that families switched denomination.

Of course it would also not include families who attended Kildress parish church.
