Suzanne, Thank you for your note. About the time I wrote you I got a new job and have stepped away from my hobbies a bit. I have no information for the Jinks group in my family beyond Georgia. And that is hanging on a thread at best because of name confusion in the William, Willis, Wilson, given names that cycle around in the same communities. I can see you have a huge chore to parse out and enter what you have been given.

Apparently I am the first in my branch of the family to care about this stuff to get it recorded as many didn't have anything more than a rudimentary education through the years. My Grandmother who was born a Jinks, was an only child and therefore there aren't many in the extended family to reference to.

I would like to participate in this study. My family includes several generations of "Jinks" spelled with an i, out of Georgia pre-Civil War. But I don't have a good grasp on this family except they over used the names William, Wilson, and Willis. I am hoping to find others studying this group. My branch ended up in Texas by the late 1870's.

Looking forward to collaborating. Dale Ada Davidson

Hello, does your family go back to the Jenks of Massachusetts and Rhode Island?

Mother was a descendant of this fellow,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Jenckes_Sr. and other descendants are variously Jenks, Jenkes, Jenckes, and occasionally Jinks.

There are a few hundred of his descendants on Wikitree already, and I have slowly started adding more from a book called "Genealogy of the Jenks Family of America" Compiled by William B. Browne, under the terms of the will of Harlan W. Jenks, deceased. Printed by Rumford Press, Concord, New Hampshire, 1952. Family legend has it that two maiden aunts of my grandfather helped with the book, and I have added everyone in the book to my home genealogy program and am slowly getting the hang of loading GED files to Wikitree, I will be good at it soon, I am sure! Wikitree says there are about 1500 people with similar names here now, and I have over 7,000 in my file, so i will be busy for quite a bit. If you want to join, you are welcome. All new information is welcome. I have not figured out how to add a button yet, that is my next task. I have a lovely badge tho! And I hope you find useful information for your tree Thank you again, and keep in touch... sorry I did not see your comment earlier
