There were multiple individuals carrying the name Johann Georg Schönhaar in the late 17th and early 18th centuries in Untertürkheim, Württemberg. This page brings together some facts known about each of them with the intent of making future distinctions easier.

  1. Johann Georg Schönhaar (abt. 1665 - 1694) , the son of Peter Schönhaar. His wife's name was Anna Catharina. He had one son, also named Johann Georg, born posthumously in 1694.
  2. Johann Georg Schönhaar (abt. 1660 - 1724), called "the older", the son of Georg Schönhaar. He was married to Anna Barbara and had ten (or eleven) children between 1687 and 1709.
  3. Johann Georg Schönhaar, the son of Marx Schönhaar, also called "the younger". In 1704 he married Maria Dorothea Hammer, daughter of Caspar Hammer, mayor of Untertürkheim. The couple had four children, Johann Marx (born 1707), Catharina Dorothea (born 1714), a stillborn child (1716), and Caspar (born 1723). On the marriage record of 1704 and the 1707 baptismal record, he is identified as "the son of Marx", and his wife's name is Dorothea; on the remaining records he is identified as "the young Johann Georg Schönhaar", and both his wife's first names are given. After Maria Dorothea's death in 1734, he married Maria Barbara Sautter, daughter of Johann Sautter, butcher and member of the judicial court. There were two children from this marriage: Maria Barbara (born 1636), and Georg Conrad (born 1738). In all the records involving his second marriage he is identified simply as "Johann Georg Schönhaar, wine grower".
  4. Johann Georg Schönhaar, also called "the younger". He had a son who died in 1710 at the age of 18 years, 2 months. He cannot be identical to the previous person (who would have been too young to have a son in 1692), and he was still alive in 1710, so he cannot be the son of Peter Schönhaar, either (see [1]).
  5. Johann Georg Schönhaar, identified solely as a wine grower in Untertürkheim. He had a daughter, Maria Dorothea, who married in 1710. Her father is stated to be deceased at this point, which makes it possible that he is the son of Peter Schönhaar (see [1]).
  6. Johann Georg Schönhaar, whose son, also named Johann Georg Schönhaar, died on 24 Dec 1704. There is no further information on the son's burial record, so he cannot be identified at this point as either [2] or [3] (or, indeed, [4]).
  7. Johann Georg Schönhaar, the posthumous son of [1]. He was born on 12 Nov 1694, died on 15 Nov 1694, and was buried on 16 Nov 1694.
  8. Johann Georg Schönhaar, the son of [6]. He died on 24 Dec 1704.
