1844 Slave and Property Deed

John's wife Miriam bought 800 acres of land and the following slaves: Dolly, Mary Ann, Betsey, Albert (Betsey's child), Amanda (Betsey's child), Bathsheba, Barnaby (Bethsheba's child), Harriet (Bethsheba's child), Tom (Bethsheba's child), an infant and Patsey. John and Maria Helm purchased the slaves from John U. Waring in Woodford Co., Kentucky.[5]

He was promoted to Corporal on 12-Apr-1866. He was 30 years old when he enlisted, was a farmer, living in Woodford Co., KY and was 5’6” tall. He was born in Union Co., Kentucky. His last slave owner was James McKee of Woodford Co., KY James McKee purchased Thomas from John U. Waring in 1845 or 1846. Lewis mustered out on 27-Apr-1866 in Louisville, KY.

His last slave owner was James McKee of Woodford Co., KY James McKee purchased Thomas from John U. Waring in 1845 or 1846.. Thomas died at Camp Nelson on 17-Sep-1864 from diarrhea.
