In 1865 there was a contract signed between Joseph’s Widow, Elizabeth and 46 of her slaves. My 4X’s Gr-Grandfather, Jonas Bohannon Sr. (b. Abt 1826) and his wife Mary (b. Abt 1832) were named in this contract. Jonas signed with an “X” agreeing to be paid $32 so that he could take charge of his family.

My ancestor James Bohannon was born in 1825 and is listed on this schedule. His wife Lucinda AB’s their children migrated to the Mississippi Delta around the 1880s where they remained until the Great Migration sent their descendants other places.
