Having declared their Intentions of Marriage with Each other before several monthly meetings of the people called Quakers at Philad'a aforesaid according to the good order used amongst them, and having consent of Parents and Friends concern'd their said Proposal of marriage was Allowed of by the said meeting. Now these are to certify whom it may concern, that for the full Accomplishing their said Intentions this Thirteenth Day of the fourth month, in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Forty Five. They the said Joseph Hallowell and Elizabeth Holcombe apeared in a Publick meeting of the said People at Philad'a afores'd and the said Joseph Hallowell taking the said Elizabeth Holcombe by the hand did in solemn manner openly declare that he took Her the said Elizabeth Holcombe to be his wife, promising through the Lord's Assist'e to be unto her a Loving and faithfull Husband until Death should separate them. And then and there in the same Assembly the said Elizabeth Holcombe did in like manner declare that she took the said Joseph Hallowell to be her Husband promising through the Lord's Assistance to be unto him a loving and Faithful wife until death should separate them. And moreover They the said Joseph Hallowell and Elizabeth Holcombe (she according to the custom of marriage assuming the name of her husband) as a further confirmation thereof did then and there to these presents set their Hands, and we whose names are here under allso subscribed being present at the solemnization of the said marriage and Subscription, have as witnesses thereunto set our hands the day and year above written.
