Justice William E. McAnulty, Jr., Kentucky Supreme Court, has 27 years of judicial experience.� Prior to his appointment to the Kentucky Supreme Court, he served eight years as a Kentucky Court of Appeals judge where he wrote approximately 750 opinions. Beginning his judicial career in juvenile court in 1975, the Judge later served in Jefferson County District Court and Circuit Court where he was elected Chief Judge in 1997.�� He also was in private practice at Greenebaum, Doll & McDonald law firm for several years.
Recognized by his peers and the public for his judicial and community leadership, Judge McAnulty received a �highly qualified� rating from a significant majority of the lawyers polled in a recent Louisville Bar Association poll � the highest ranking of the three candidates for the Supreme Court seat.� He is a recipient of many awards including the Henry Pennington Outstanding Judge of the Year, Louisville Bar Association Judge of the Year, the Leadership Louisville Thomas Simons Award, and the Metro United Way Allen Society Leadership Award.
Justice McAnulty has served in many leadership roles in a wide range of local, state-wide and national organizations.� His community service includes: Chairman of New York-based Learning Matters, Inc., a Peabody Award winner for a PBS documentary and past chairman of Metro United Way, the WLKY Bell Awards and the Juvenile Justice Committee of the KY Crime Commission.� He is also a former president of Bridgehaven, Inc. and the Renaissance Development Corporation and was a coach of the Buechel Little League for several years.� He has also served on numerous committees for his alma mater, the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law and has been an adjunct instructor at the law school.
In addition to holding J.D. and M.A.T degrees from the University of Louisville, the Justice is a graduate of Indiana University and a native of Indianapolis.
