Kaoru Yama Horie, 87, of Kamuela, Hawaii, a retired saddle maker for Parker Ranch, died Thursday at home. He was born in Puuoo, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Shizue; daughters Judy Tsunoda and Janet Takata; brothers Tadashi, Isami and Charles G.; sisters Yoshimi Uyeda, Fusami Yano, Matsue Tadakawa and Itomi Kishi; and three grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Dodo Mortuary, Hilo. Call after 10 a.m. Cremation to follow. Casual attire.

TAKATA, Janet Fujiko Age 70, passed away on July 7, 2008. Beloved wife of Shigemi Takata; mother of Carolyn, Jim (Barbara), and Craig (Brenda) Takata; grandmother of Connor, Madeline, Casey, Marisa, Kyle, Jared and Matthew Takata; sister of Bill and John Nishi, Joanne Imura, Robin and Linda Nishi.
