Admission register has 2 entries for him: 3 June 1876 aged 56, born Cornwall, arrived in Colony on the Aldinga, in the Colony 2 months; and 8 Feb 1878 aged 58, born Cornwall, arrived in Colony on the Aldinga, in the Colony 1 year and 8 months, died 15 May 1878. Buried WTC 17 May 1878 Road 4, Path 6, Aspect W, Site Number 23. Not buried with any other Tonkin, no death notice located in the newspaper.
Ernest Henry Tonkin born 21 June 1885, son of Elizabeth Tonkin (no father recorded) died age 6 months at New Thebarton on 9 January 1886 and buried in West Terrace Cemetery, specific location of burial site within the general cemetery grounds is unknown. Who was his mother?
Alfred Tonkin born 14 Octobert 1867, son of John Tonkin and Susan Abbott. Married Gwendoline Clarke in 1893 in Broken Hill, New South Wales, died age 35 on 24 April 1903 and buried in WTC, Plan 3 Row 28 Site 55.
Aneais Harrie McDonald Tonkin born 4 July 1903, daughter of Henry Tonkin and Christina McDonald. Died age 1 buried September 1904 in WTC Find A Grave: Memorial #166394286
John Tonkin aged 69 buried WTC Road B Extension, Row 4AE, Site Number 7 (now a reused site) there is no death registered in South Australia but there is James Tonkin (1857-1926) who died age 69 on 10 Dec 1926. No burial notice found on trove
