Kendall Name Study

Kendall Name Study

About the Project

The Kendall Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Kendall name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Kendall name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Kendall's), by time period (18th Century Kendall's), or by topic (Kendall DNA, Kendall Occupations, Kendall Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Also see the related surnames and surname variants.

Why spend years and expense researching the wrong location or family, perhaps we can share information or make recommendations to help you. You may have personal family records, deeds or bibles to help us.

The Kendall One-Name Study is a volunteer network sharing family stories, pictures and information concerning the Kendall surname. We share information to promote further genealogical and genetic research for our members.

We are conducting an international Kendall DNA Project. It is open to all Kendall families and various spellings: Kendal, Kendale, Kindall, Kendell, Kindell, Kindel, Kindle, Kendel, Kendle and more. Please donate to our project. With your support, we can increase testing and help achieve our project goals. Visit https://www.familytreedna.com/public/Kendall/

Our project goals include

STOP the proliferation of genealogies that are not proven with documentation and based on sound research principles.

Supplement, prove or correct earlier Kendall genealogies and family histories based on the project research and genetic findings

Identify and confirm variant spellings of the Kendall surname

Explore relationships and migration patterns to determine new avenues for further investigation

Locate the origins of the Kendall patriarchs

Hi Scott, I too am researching Ida Kendall (1859 - 1903 Maryland) who married Peter Tracey (1857 - 1934 Maryland) in 1876. Together they had three children: 1. Ettie Idelia (1878 - 1959) m Charles Lewis bef. 1899; 2. Julia Ann (1880 - 1962 Maryland) who married David Bowman in 1897, and Julia Ann may have also married a Kuhn as a teenager; 3. Stanley (b 1894, not found after 1900 US Census).

My purpose in researching Ida Kendall, like Mary Mayes, is because she and I share the same mtDNA Haplogroup H27, and we believe Ida Kendall did also. We believe Ida's mother to be Dianna E. Bearsnyder/Bearsnider. Other surnames on the maternal side include Greenwell and Gray.

Please add me to the Kendall one-name study, as I hope this can further my research of my maternal line. Best regards, Pam

Scott I would like to join --specifically for William Kendall - Bethany Callaway descendants and eventually for the earlier generation - William Kendal (1745-1829)l - Sarah (Elms?) family. I'll go back and add the sticker for the William Kendall - Bethany Callaway family. I've already joined the fb research group you have and the DNA project. Glad to be abroad.

Hi Scott,

Welcome to WikiTree. We've corresponded in the past about one of your project members on FTDNA . Do you realise that you can filter WikiTree: To find all YDNa tests entered for your surname of choice (caps not necessary) http://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:DNATests&s=SURNAME&order=ttup&filterId=&filterType=yDNA

For autosomal DNA http://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:DNATests&s=SURNAME&order=ttup&filterId=&filterType=auDNA

For mitochondrial DNA http://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:DNATests&s=SURNAME&order=ttup&filterId=&filterType=mtDNA

Let me know which category you want me to add to George Kendall's page for your project

Scott,

Are you going to compile a list of Kendall's on this or any other page. I've encountered many in Colonial Massachusetts. Bob

Bob, I'm trying to learn WikiTree and will get you the Kendall Name Study updated. There is a lot of new information about the Colonial MA Kendalls. As soon as I can we will get you included in the study. Thanks Scott

I would like to join. My GG grandmother was Ida Kendall from Frederick County Maryland. I know nothing about her father but her mother was supposed to be Dianna Bearsnyder.

Hello Mary, I am Gayle Hock, live in King George Co. VA - just across the 301 bridge. I am researching the William Kendalls of both Jamestown and KEnt Island. Do you have any background on your Idal Kendall line ?
