Kiama (/kaɪæmə/) is a coastal country town 120 kilometres south of Sydney in the Illawarra. It is located near Saddleback Mountain. The Tharawal people were the first people to live around the area of Kiama. George Bass was the first European to explore the area.

History
Kiama grew as a town with immigration from countries such as England and Ireland in the 18th century. Early colonial families such as the Kendalls and Hindmarshes both settled around the area, and a significant portion of the population has Irish ancestry.
