Hi, thank you for setting up this project!

I have a great grandmother in Troup County (LaGrange) Georgia, born 1868, died 4/2/1941, named Sudie J Kidd, who married Robert Carlisle on 7/21/1890. I have marriage records for her that show her name clearly as Sudie J Kidd, but I cannot find her parents. Would anyone have a line of Kidds in the Randolph County, AL to Troup County, GA area, or anywhere close, in the mid 1800s that might give me a foothold to start tracking her parents down? Any help would be greatly appreciated! If you have any questions, let me know. Best regards, James Penson

I am in search of a line of KIDD family that is in my family tree. I don't know much, other than GEORGE N. KIDD married Lilly FIVEASH. She gave birth to a son, WOODROW.

I would like to know what happened to George Kidd. Did he die or were they divorced? I found Lilly's obituary that mentions she had remarried to Ira Loftin Turnage and that upon her death she left 3 children from Ira and a son, Woodrow (From George?) I can only guess that Woodrow was about 2 or 3 years old at the time of her death and Woodrow must have gone to live with his "KIDD" family, since he is not listed to be with the Turnage family on other documentations after her death. If you can share any information on either of the people I have mentioned above, I would greatly appreciate if you could drop me a line at [email address removed] Thanks a billion!! God bless. Janet

My great grandmother Lilly was a Kidd, adopted to a family named striplin. I believe the prior information sketchy. I believe that the striplin may have been Indians on the rolls in Oklahoma.

She died in about 1970 at about 90, her married name was Williams, I have her DNA on my maternal side, it's listed in my profile.

Hi! I've traced my Kidd line back to George Kidd's arrival in Abbeville, SC in the late 1700s, thence through his son Archibald to the Kidds of Lincoln County, TN and then of Martha, OK. As opportunity presents itself, I'm interested in sharing my research, confirming a few weak spots, and learning about other lines of the family tree!

Good evening, Kidd is a family name passed down from my father/grandfather. My grandfather was born John Kidd to Syndey G. Kidd & Nelly Clark Scott in 1918. Sydney Kidd (1883-1918) is the son of Robert Drew Kidd (1843-1930) and Sarah Ann Mitchell. Robert Kidd is the son of Johnathan Kidd (1804-1873) and Frances Drew. Johnathan Kidd is the son of Peter Kidd (1780-??) and Mary Robson. I'm trying to determine if we are connected somewhere along this line and look more into the family history. Do these names/dates match up with any records you might have coming out of Scotland, Ireland, England? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The study is what you think it's for. My line has a line to "Kidd". But even if I am not related to pirates, this should become a valuable tool for classifying this illusive name of Kidd..

My Kidd links They come out of nowhere about 2 generations after captain kidd was hung.

The story here is. He had two daughters. This line maybe from one of these girls. Or a completely different line.

Source: In 1697 he married Sarah Bradley Cox Oort, a rich 20-years-old widow. She had two daughters. Kidd was a successful businessman and citizen. He owned property overlooking the Hudson. Question is Did she have the daughters before she could have married Kidd and had 2 kids At 20? So who were they? Oort Cox's?

But he had no male children, so they would have had to adopt the last name again for this to be the line to him. possibly after dropping the name for generations.

I think the daughters were Elizabeth and Sarah Kidd. I will edit this for accuracy as I'm going from memory.

I will add her profile here, on Bradley_Cox-1, as starting point.
