Who is the oldest Kimball of Surry, Virginia? Charles, Joseph or William?

It has been thought that Joseph was the oldest and was the father of ,Charles, William, Joseph Jr. , Benjamin and Peter, and another Benjamin. My goal is to sort this out.

Contents

Joseph Sr.

We will start with Joseph Kimball First sourced record of Joseph is a tithe record in 1693-94 Surry County, Virginia, under Thomas Busby. So this put Joseph in Surry County, Virginia. If he was 21 at the time this would make his birth date around 1672. The tith record above puts Joseph at Upper Sunken Marsh, lawnes Creek Parish,Surry County,Virginia.[1][2] Another record ; 1694 court at Westover,Charle City County,Virginia, where Joseph was a witt. in a case for Joseph Perry and Thomas Harrison.[3] [4] There is no other records yet for Joseph, other than his will , made Jan.16,1711. There is no wife recorded. There is a stated [[Kimball-652 Joseph Kimball Jr.]] Earliest record for him is 1725,Surry,Virginia.[5][6] Making Joseph Sr. and Joseph Jr. from Surry County,Virginia.

People he knew:

  • Thomas Busby[7]Thomas new and dealt with William Byrd.(This will be important later.)

July 4,1671,Thomas completes a sale of his mill and 150 acres to William Byrd.[8]

There was a suit against Thomas Busby by Roger Jones,March 10,1689,Thomas was to pay Jones 5000 lbs. of pork It had not been paid. Joseph Perry was in charge of th bail for Thomas Busby against Jones. Dec.14,1693 thomas dressed 400 lbs. of pork for this suit. This law suit continued with these men, until April 3 1695.[10]

Charles

Charles Kimball oldest known record is when he appeared in court at Williamsburg, Virginia in the year 1712. If he was at least 21 at the time this would make his birth year around 1691.Still yet making Joseph the oldest thus far. So there is a possility that Charles was his son and not a brother. His wife Alice , had been married before. He first husband Richard Moore died in 1720,Surry,Virginia. So she and Charles had married by Aug.16,1727,they were now executors of his estate.

William

William Kimball Oldest known record for him was in 1717. For illegally trading with the Indians. Charles was with him. There is only five years difference in there age. If he was 21 in 1717,that would make his birth date around 1696.

This book almost solves everything:
